Description
A bike tour around one of the largest lakes in France
Cycling around Lac du Der is a popular activity in every season. This safe, 30+ km route is a must-do, accessible to all. Along the way, which mostly follows the dikes surrounding the lake, you'll discover magnificent viewpoints as well as the typical bocage landscapes and local heritage sites (museums, churches, etc.). Cycling around Lac du Der in spring/summer or autumn/winter offers a completely different experience. The landscapes and colors are entirely different. That's why, if you can, we recommend doing this cycle loop at two different times of the year to enjoy two truly unique experiences.

This pretty church is the former church of the village of Champaubert-aux-Bois, which was destroyed when Lac du Der was created in 1974. Preserved on its promontory, which offers a beautiful viewpoint, it dominates the lake. A commemorative stele nearby reminds us of the existence of the 3 sunken villages.
