Located to the south of Lac du Der, the Giffaumont-Champaubert nautical base is a welcoming leisure centre with a 400-berth marina.

2Chantecoq bird observatory
Facing the lake, this is the largest of the Lac du Der observatories. You can watch the birdlife, particularly the Common Cranes, in the early hours of the morning during the migration period (from October to March).

The Der Museum explains the creation of the Lac du Der and its impact on the region, in particular the disappearance of several sunken villages, and also presents the traditional skills and trades of the region. The site also showcases the local timber-framed heritage, with authentic buildings including a church and a barn.

This pretty church is the former church of the village of Champaubert-aux-Bois, which was destroyed when Lac du Der was created in 1974. Preserved on its promontory, which offers a beautiful viewpoint, it dominates the lake. A commemorative stele nearby reminds us of the existence of the 3 sunken villages.
