The Société d'Astronomie de Haute-Marne (SAHM) is an association run by astronomy enthusiasts with the aim of making this science accessible to as many people as possible. Its astronomical observatory is open to the public and is located in Valcourt in Haute-Marne, near Saint-Dizier and just a few kilometres from Lac du Der.
The association has several telescopes, including a computerised 305 mm telescope under a dome, a planetarium and a conference room. Evenings of observation and discovery of the sky are organised on a regular basis. On the 3rd Friday of the month, lectures on a variety of subjects are offered to the public.
