Owned by the Syndicat d'Aménagement Touristique du Lac du Der, the Ferme aux Grues is located on a former farm in one of the main feeding areas for Common Cranes. The primary aim is to encourage the cranes to stay on a dedicated plot of land on the farm by feeding them seeds for a short period of 3 weeks in February. This agrainage can help reduce any damage to spring seedlings on neighbouring plots. Each year, 7 tonnes of seed are distributed, reducing the amount consumed in fields in the area by 7 tonnes.
