Abbaye de Jovilliers

Concerning the listed site :
The Abbey of Jovilliers was built in 1142, then devastated during the wars of religion.
It was rebuilt in 1730.
Today, the outbuildings forming the lower courtyard, the covered well, the cloister, the abbey house with beautiful rooms and splendid vaulted cellars remain. All that remains of the church is its astonishing façade with its two square towers that dominate the plateau.
A surrounding wall shelters the main courtyard with its fruit trees.
This abbey is part of the Prémontrés order created by Saint Norbert in 1120 at a place called Prémontrés near Laon in the Aisne.

About the association :
The association Jovilliers, Echanges et Culture was created in 1986 with the aim of enhancing and promoting the local rural heritage, encouraging intergenerational encounters and supporting local producers and farmers. The volunteers and members of the association have been working since its creation on the restoration of the building so that you can discover it!
The association organises various events throughout the year: 2 local markets (April and October), a walking and mountain bike trail, various conferences/vernissages/exhibitions, guided tours organised by appointment throughout the year, European Heritage Day.
It is also possible to rent one or more rooms, the cloister, the kitchen for receptions, family gatherings for example.
There is ample parking in front of the building.
