The first significant element is the location: the establishment nestles in three superb buildings dating from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries which have retained their original architecture. This is strongly marked by the so-called "timber-framed" construction system, very traditional and particularly well preserved. It is revived in the region, whether in the historic heart of Troyes or in a number of surrounding villages.

The Piney hall, located across the street, is one of the torches of this proud vernacular heritage that has survived the centuries without aging. It is still as solid, as elegant and impressive as ever.

The hotel and restaurant Le Tadorne thus offers an authentic setting, tinged with romanticism through its old half-timbering and its corbellings. Under venerable frameworks are 24 spacious, pleasant and comfortable rooms.

The second asset is the spirit in which this place has developed over the years, under the leadership of the owners, Nathalie and Patrice Carillon, joined by their son Pierre, now. They entered the profession very young (at 22!) And have shown, since then, an incredible entrepreneurial capacity. They led their project step by step, with consistency and passion. This family, gifted for welcoming and exchanging, it is true that they are passionate about the art of living, cooking, heritage, nature, culture, history… Know-how and interpersonal skills communicative.

Originally the Café des Voyageurs, with its small bar, restaurant and eight rooms, acquired by Nathalie and Patrice Carillon in 1986, has tripled in size over the space of thirty years. And the Shelduck has positioned itself as a benchmark for hotels and restaurants in the region. It pays homage to an emblematic and sympathetic duck which, during its migrations, likes to find refuge on the shores of the lakes of Aubois, before resuming its journey, of spinning towards other horizons ...
